Whew!! What a crazy week last week was! First I made some mini cakes for 2 staff members who were leaving. I had been wanting to try the mini cakes, so I thought "what better way!?" They turned out OK, although hard to cover with the fondant- they're so small! I used a large cupcake and a mini cupcake in top to make a 2-tiered mini cake. I'll post some pics later.

On top of THAT, I had a friend refer a friend who wanted to 50th wedding anniversary cake for Saturday! I had to hand paint the fondant ribbons gold- what a pain!!! I couldn't find any Duff graffiti spray in gold, which is supposedly a lot easy to use....Boy, was I freaking out on Friday!! My cakes didn't seem to want to bake properly, which should have been the easy part!! But, after 10 hours, the cake was done and turned out pretty good! Only 1 more thing left to do after that- deliver it on Saturday! A 45 minute drive down the highway! My boyfriend drove so I could hold the cake...what he calls the most stressful drive he's ever had, and that's saying a lot since the previous "most stressful drive' was the last time he let ME drive somewhere, lol! Well, the cake made it and the customer and her family LOVED it! It looked so pretty sitting on the decorated table! Now, if only I had a kitchen clean up crew...

I start my last Wilton course on Wednesday- Gumpaste and more fondant. Looking forward to furthering my skills. Just wish there were classes on topsy turvey cakes, carving cakes and how to do fondant figures...

That is wonderful... I have trouble with the baking times also. I am glad I got the baking strips, now my cake comes out even, and I am going to use the flower nail next time I have to back. The Duffy spray is not in our Micheal's either, I so want an airbrush.......I have to agree with those classes you are looking for... I want the same thing. I did see a video for the tupsy turvey cake, it had no words just them doing it. I started that Fondant/Gumpaste class this past Sat and am really excited. I just wish it was four days in a row and not four weeks..... I can't wait for the next class. I have been watching all the videos but figured the class would be great practice.
