Hi Diana - welcome to the Cakes we bake community. For my Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake I use a 10in square tin for the base cake and a small pudding bowl about 4-5in diameter for the clubhouse base. The head, ears, hand, and boot are made from rice crispy recipe which I press together with my hands (using gloves). It's always a bit of guess work and I use pictures from the internet for guides. I also make the leg, neck and arm with cardboard tubes which I measure and cut after I've started to put the structure together - they are covered in black fondant and secured (except the leg) with skewers. The fingers for the hand are gumpaste and are secured with cocktail sticks. I hope this is helpful as I don't use templates etc just my best judgement. Good Luck!
