Looped individual loops (pinched together at the bottom and squeezed slightly to give the pleat) around a rolling pin balanced between two chairs, left overnight to dry and harden.  Then stuck them together on the cake and put another loop in the middle for a knot to hide the joins.  Needless to say, I made about 10 of the things, just to get 4 that didn't break (grrrrr).

I have never done a bow. HOW DID YOU KEEP IT UP?
