Thank you Katy and Maria.  I have a third one in the works with a slightly different center, still.  This time I will make the petals a little less pointed.

Oh, I will, because I love making the flowers and other stuff with gum paste, but I just love the old style piping and am determined to get at least proficient at it.  I think I've said before, I almost feel like sculpting with gum paste is covering up the fact that you can't really decorate cakes.  Not necessarily true, but it is just so much easier to master....or so it seems to me.  The first time I covered a cake with fondant, it came out perfectly.  After many tries, I have yet to do a really good job smoothing BC - adequate, but not good.  You are my hero :o)

That's how I feel about BC..I've never done much with gum paste. You've evidently found your calling, do what you do best.

Thanks, Betty.  It is funny to me that I find gum paste flowers to be so much easier than butter cream or royal icing.
