Delores, nothing on this cake is done in a mold! It's all piped onto pieces of gum paste. She has done this before and it is always stellar! All the bridging is done with Royal Icing. The butterflies, the same. They are totally piped, usually one wing at a time, dried,  then joined with the body to allow them to stand up. Lace molds look totally different. These items are so very fragile, not unlike spun glass. She copied embroidery stitches onto the cake. Takes a steady hand and a delicate touch. The frosting must be the right consistency so as to flow from the tube without breaking but not so soft as to droop! This is the work of a talented lady! It is called Battenburg Lace when done on fabric.

I have never done lace work wither  but would like to learn   this is just gorgeous. Would love to know how it was done. I was told lace molds are very expensive.
