I made this monstrosity for a relative. I baked, torted, filled, and covered it in buttercream. The bottom sq. is 16". I was kind of pleased with how it turned out, UNTIL (drum roll please.....) the gal they sent here to decorate it arrived, and went to work! I wish I had a picture of it when it was all white, and neat! This is only the beginning of her decorating. I knew it was not going to be my style exactly, when they said they would take care of the decorating. That should have warned me. The wedding took place...What?? Yes this is a wedding cake..., ok, again the wedding took place at a race track, and the attendants, bride's maids, etc..., all wore red tee-shirts, & black jeans. Now you know where the red & black decorations came in. She used to have the initials AH, now she is A to Z. lol This is the only picture I took of it, and I just found it when reviewing a few folders on my pc.

Not so busy Gail, These last 5-6 pictures that I uploaded, were older ones that I had forgotten all about, until I happened upon them when reviewing a few folders on my PC.   So I put them up here with the rest.

June, I just did not want to put such decorations as she wanted on 'any' wedding type cake.  I could have used swags, stripes, zig-zags, circles, & such to decorate, no flowers there, but I just knew that THAT was not what she wanted.  Too conventional.  She kept say , SOMETHING DIFFERENT! while shaking her hands in the air!   And black & red for their motorcycle colors.  So I let her friend do it, her way.  And she loved it, when it was done, and that is what counts.  I liked it OK up to the point of the picture, but it got a little bazaar for a wedding cake after that.  I did not go to the wedding either, it was a 2 hour drive to the race track.  How they made it with that BC covered cake, I will never know!

Nice cake...strange story....I'm sure you would have decorated it much differently, and much nicer Bonnie.
But question.....Why didn't you decorate it???

That's what I get for posting so late at night!!

Katy!  You should have called me down on this one!

And Sandra, you are SOOO right!!  It was 16".  Now don't let that go to your head, like my hubby says, 'You have to be right every now & then...', which goes to imply that I am ----- a lot of the time.  Just hate that word! Don't you? lol

She, the bride to be, said that she wanted something 'different', so I put together 'something different'!   And NO FLOWERS!!!  That was when I suggested she might want to get someone else to decorate it...

Well, the goofy girl doesn't know what she missed by not having you do the decorating - but, perhaps she wouldn't have known the difference anyway.  Did you put four cakes together for the bottom tier?  I bought a set of pans with the bottom tier at 16" and it is about 1/2" too large to go in my oven!
