Ok, the story behind this....I had made the hydrangea flower topper and accompanying scrunchie flowers for a surprise 70th birthday party that never happened. Mainly because we couldn't get the birthday girl to the party. She always seemed to have plans. Since I was part of our little theatre group who was trying to create the party, my feeling was we should have given up the subterfuge, and just told her we wanted to give her a party. Birthday girl and our little group have now scattered for the summer...so the vanilla lemon cakes I made for the party were just languishing in my freezer. So I thought...I'm bored, going to decorate and use up the flowers I made.
Added wafer paper fan for some fun.....

Lovely,  always good to keep your hand in, I do this sometimes if I want to try something new. Love your colour combination, your hydrangeas must have taken ages to make, lovely.

Thanks Katy....the black was a beggar...you can't tell in the pic, but edges were starting to crack.. I rubbed shortening into it, and that helped. But as this was just for fun and practice, didn't matter..
No biggie Sandra....right after I took the pics, petals started falling off because of the humidity.

Oh, sorry to get on my high horse, June :o(  Just hated to think about the beautiful flower getting tossed.

They didn't toss it, I did. It was getting soft, and the petals were falling off. Couldn't be used again Sandra.

Oh my gosh, June!  If they were going to dispose of the topper, why didn't they give it back to you and it could have been used again!  Tossed!  That is sacrilege!  Well, the cake is beautiful and I really hope they enjoy it.
