Learn How to Create A Gumpaste Bows on Gluten Free Sugar Cookies Card

I was asked by a friend if I could bake him a batch of gluten free sugar cookies. Flamboyant Mayflower Petal Cake

While Sydney was home  this past weekend, for a VERY short time, we visited the Botanical gardens. As we walked around the flowers and greenery I saw a Flamboyant Mayflower and  became mesmerized by it’s beauty! The Flamboyant Mayflower is known for its flamboyant display of flowers. In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an ornamental tree and in…

Purple Perfection Peony

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers, we have had them adorn our landscaping for almost 22 years; I remember planting our first peony plant with Sydney (she was almost two) and it just happened to be Mother’s Day. Sugar Paste Fabric Rose Cake Topper

I love a full open rose sitting on top of a cake. It is a simple touch of elegance. I had planned on designing a few cakes for Sydney to choose from for 21st birthday party. The first element I need is for her to choose from is the type of topper; she is leaning towards  a flower. She wanted to see a few different types, last year we designed Butterfly…

Working with Edible Glue

A lot of people ask me all the time about Edible glue. So here is some information on it. Edible Glue is basically used to glue Fondant, Gumpaste, or pastillaje.

Is it right to use water as glue? The answer is yes. Certain details can be glued with a brush and water, but you have to keep in mind that water is not alcohol based, so it doesnt dry as fast. If you put too much,

you will have a real slippery mess.

So, the question is how much is needed? Think about…

Experiments

The workload is light. So, I've been able to do a little experimenting. This time, it's with piping gumpaste. This experiment began Sunday night.
I placed about a 1/2 cup of gumpaste, pinched off into small pieces, into my mixer bowl. I added about 1/4-1/2 cup of hot water, a little at a time while mixing on low (the small chunks made the mixer clunk about a bit). I covered it with plastic to let in dissolve (hopefully) for several hours. After several hours had gone by, it…
