Fondant roses on cream cheese icing

Started this discussion. Last reply by yvonne murphy Jan 29, 2010. 1 Reply

I'm doing a cake that the roses were changed from royal icing to fondant. The icing is cream cheese and I know the cake has to be refrigerated. Will this melt the fondant roses?

I've seen beautiful cakes shaped like pillows. Is this a special pan set or are they carved out of cake? If there are pans to do this, I would love to know where I can get them? Or directions on how…Continue

Hi Yvonne,
I have been decorating for 6 months. I bought a cake for my Grandaughters 1st birthday last March from a cake decorater. The cake looked amazing, It was in a shape of a one and there were awful huge blocks of marzipan on the top and bottom sides. The cake was supposed to be for 20. We managed 12 tiny pieces. It tasted awful. Then I decided that I was it, I was going to teach myself to do it myself. I am quite pleased I never made a sponge cake until a year ago. Well now I am really hooked, I love it, any excuse to make a cake and I head to the kitchen.
I have done a short flower making course at college where I learned to make sweet peas. The rest I have learned from websites and you tube.
I don't work, but I care for my Mother and mother-in-law. So I am out at their places more than I am in, so I know what you mean, you are always itching to start another cake.
I would love to do it as a job, but I haven't enough confidence yet, maybe when my cakes are good enough to sell I will think about it.

Hi Yvonne,
I was adding some of your cakes as my favorites and I really like some of the details you have done on your cakes. Have you been decorating long?
