Duck hunting themed cake, all buttercream and edible images. All the shotgun shell boxes and the tree stump were all icing images. I bought boxes of real shotgun shells and took the boxes apart and scanned them to my printer, then printed all the sides with edible images, They were then applied to fondant and cut out to the shape of the box, then folded and left to dry on a styrofoam form. After they were dry the form was removed and they looked like real boxes. The shot gun shell boxes were entirely out of fondant and edible images. The image on the ends of the "wooden" shotgun shell ammo box were edible images from a vintage advertising poster. The printing on the front of the ammo case was done with a stencil and airbrush. The ducks feathers and tail feathers were edible images. All shotgun shells were out of fondant. The grooms favorite hunting hat was also reproduced in fondant. For the tree stump, I found that if the images were applied all scrunched up, they looked more like a real wood texture. All the fall leaves and the hardware on the ammo case was fondant.

That is quite the cake...a lot happening. Just a quick, funny little story. When my kids were young, my son took my daughter hunting ducks, here on the farm. He didn't have a bird dog, so his sister had to swim & get the duck. Go figure ???
