Thank you so much Mandy.  It's getting to me now thou.  So I have decided not to do cakes on Sunday anymore and those last minute request,  "I forget my kids cake".  I am sorry but I can't accommodate them, my baby girl needs her mom.

Sending you a hug from one baker to another - well done on juggling career, baby and baking - I salute you :-)

I know what you mean.  I am in law enforcement full time.  With a 9mth old baby, I am doing cakes part time as a hobby, been doing it now for over 14 yrs.  It has taken over my life that I hardly have time for myself.  But those extra dollars does help out a lot in this difficult economy.  The look on the faces of the little ones and my love for it is what keeps me going.

Nope - its my hobby (but fast taking over my real liffffffeeeeee) - you know what I mean :-)  I live it, love it, dream it, and sleep very little while at it :-)

Same here. Your work is beautiful.  Do you do cakes full time?

Very nice as well but you can see the difference if types of icing used.  You are most welcome.

Oh you clever thing you! I have done these types of pictures on cakes but never thought to use a smaller tip (silly me) or my finger (even sillier me) - so thank you so much _ I love doing these pictures on cakes.  What I have done in the past is to trace the picture on to rice paper that I have first "painted over" with piping jel, and then do the whole picture with royal icing, flooding the picture inside the black outlines with the appropriate colours, and then put the finished picture on top of the buttercream iced cake.  It also works well but I love working with the buttercream too - so thank you so much for explaining it to me :-)

I will attempt to upload a picture to show you what I mean :-)

I have colored them in with butter cream icing using tip #3 or 4, when it has crusted a bit I gently pat the areas filled in with my finger to smooth it out a better.  However, for the black I used store bought Betty Crocker icing to avoid that nasty after taste.

Thank you, and what have you coloured them in with? Royal Icing or buttercream?
