Civilization III cake made for my son's birthday. Characters are images backed with candy melts. Main image is a game screen print printed on two edible image paper sheets and the sides are printed and punched-out edible image paper. Can't wait to try variations of that technique.

Comment by Linda Beachy-Hughes on June 27, 2012 at 7:12pm Sure! I printed out a gold colored edible image (just an all-over gold color) and then brushed on gold luster dust over it. Then I used a Martha Stewart all-over punch to punch out the design (I've only used it with cake stuff). To get the punched out piece on the cake, I laid it face-down on the plastic sheet the edible image came on (cut to the same size) and then pressed that against the cake so that the back of the image stuck to the cake, and then smoothed it down. It wasn't perfect, but it worked pretty well. The cake was iced with a meringue icing- I'm not sure how it would work with a fondant or crusting icing.

Thank you.
