This is a Dominican cake. Dominican cake is made with 1 lb. butter, 1 lb. sugar, 1 lb. all-purpose flour and 12 eggs. Dominican cake is a heavy cake. The cake is a three-tier cake.
Everything in this cake is edible, except for the toothpick holding the flags. The towers are made by covering cardboard tubes with fondant, and then removed when hardened. The pumpkins are also made with fondant. The vines and leaves are made with royal icing.
