Oh, that is a nice heavy wire.  Got to get some.  

It holding up really well.  I think it's an 18 gauge wire and it goes pretty far down.

I assumed that it did have a wire, but seems it would need to be an awfully heavy wire to keep it from tipping.  I had a heck of a time trying to keep my birds from tilting backwards on their perch.
