Comment by Mia Rivera on March 7, 2012 at 12:13am Hello my fellow New York Cake Decorators:
My boyfriend and I have entered the "Race For The Ring" contest with Casale Jewelers. I am a cake decorator who wants to walk down the aisle, and the more votes we get, the greater our chances to win! Please help a fellow borinquen cake decorator walk down the aisle, It only takes two seconds, here's how you can help:
1) "Like" Casale Jewelers on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/sijeweler
2) Visit the following link, and click on "Mia" : http://apps.facebook.com/offerpop/Contest.psp?c=63651&u=16659&a...
3) Once you see our photo, click "vote" If you have any trouble trying to vote, please feel free to email me and I am happy to walk you through the process!!!
Every single vote counts for us!!! Many thanks for your support and Cheers to all!

Comment by Ck King on September 28, 2011 at 12:16am Hello Fellow Islanders!
My name is Ck; I am owner/baker of a Cupcakery ".com" Company: The Cavity Shoppe "Where the fillings are Sweet" and we are planning on opening a new location here on the Island. Staten Island doesn't have NOT one Specialty Cupcakery from tip to tip and we are keeping fingers crossed that we become the first one!
We will be looking for interns as well as paid workers once we open up our shop.
To Jessica:
My advise to you is to just do a bunch of decorated cakes and take pictures. Even do cake dummies and create a website and utilize all the FREE Social networking that you can to help pass along the word.
It starts slow as anything else but within time you will witness a pick up in orders &/or recommendations. You have to be your biggest fan/customer! You must promote yourself as you've never before. You have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain! Good Luck!!! ~Ck

Comment by JoAnn Ramos on September 19, 2011 at 9:07am I dont know of anyone hiring, but if you are good with buttercream or a whipped cream (meaning you can ice a cake smooth, make a rose and do a border) you can apply for a cake decorator position in a grocery store. You can look on the store websites to see if they are hiring for the position.

Comment by JoAnn Ramos on August 8, 2011 at 9:05am Hi Jessica, Welcome to the group. I am also from Staten Island. I am an instructor at A.C. Moore in East Brunswick, NJ and I also teach privately.
A.C. Moore and Michaels in Staten Island Both have Courses, its a way to meet new friends and you have something in common with them. I noticed from my classes that many friendships begin there and some continue to take classes together. If you sign up for a September course between August 21 and August 27th, the cost of the class will be $10.00 (plus cost of supplies)
