hey Jacksonville Cake Decorators. I'll be in Jacksonville tomorrow. Where can I buy really neat stuff for cakes?

Sorry to say, but there are no cake supply stores in Jacksonville! We only have your typical Wilton supplies available from Michaels, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby.

OMGOSH, that is awful. I was so looking forward to shopping someplace new. :(. Thank you for getting back to me so fast! :) Bonnie

I know, it is awful! Our only shop closed last year. I can only hope that something will open up soon!!!

I'm from Jax. I did cakes from my home there from 91-99 under the name SophistiCakes. Now I teach Wilton and teach advanced gumpaste stuff. I only do cakes now for family and friends. I'm surprised you all don't have more members in such a large city. I remember Pretty Cakes had a nice supply area and also a place on Blanding. Too bad they aren't there anymore.

I found a cake bakery supplier and distributor called Atlantic Distributor off Highway Ave, corner of Edgewood Ave. Met one of the workers at one of my promotions at Hobby Lobby on Atlantic Blvd. I teach Wilton classes as well at Hobby Lobby. They are only open weekdays so I have not been able to see what they have as of yet. But she stated they carry everything and if they don't have they will order it. Hope this helps.

New Classes Coming to Jax

First up, Sidney Galpern, from Simi Cakes and Confections, will be teaching 3 isomalt classes on Saturday, June 11. They will be:

Class 1:  Casting Isomalt, Including Gems 10-12pm
Class 2:  Sculpted and Pulled Sugar: Vines, Roses, Calla Lilies 12:15-2:15
Class 3:  Spun Sugar and Blown Bubbles 3-5pm

All of the tools and supplies needed for these classes are provided.
The cost is $60 each or $150 for all three classes

We were lucky enough to attend a couple of these classes in Melbourne recently. Sidney may be young, but she sure is talented! And a wonderful teacher too. If isomalt is something you've been wanting to try, now's the time. But hurry, these classes fill up fast!

The very next day, Patrice Drinkard will be teaching an awesome, hands-on Mask class!
The class fee is $75.

Both of these classes will be held at 4237 Salisbury Road.
More details will be coming soon!
If you have any questions about either of these classes, please check www.simicakes.com or www.patricespieces.org for more information.
