First cakes. I've searched for this group/discussion and couldn't find one so I'm starting one. While I work up the nerve to post my first cakes (go ahead & lol), feel free to post some of yours.

Comment by Holly Ellison on March 22, 2012 at 3:36am The cakes below are my first two cakes. The white with blue flowers was for one of my daughter's bridal showers and the cake below it was my niece's 4th birthday cake. Both are covered in Marshmallow fondant. The white cake has gum paste flowers and royal icing as well.

Comment by Nahwahkah Romans on March 7, 2012 at 7:30pm Hi, I am pretty new to cake decorating ( I do it as a hobby for my kids) I am finally starting to think about branching out and carving a cake for the first time so that will be interesting. In the mean time I figured I would post a pic of the very first cake I made. It was a birthday cake for one of my sons.
Comment by Kelly Chandley on February 2, 2012 at 1:06am Hello everyone. I'm VERY new to the cake decorating world. I actually just completely my first full cake 2 days ago. Prior to that I spent the last 3 weeks practicing various techniques such as making and rolling fondant, making buttercream and royal icing, etc. I will include a picture of my first completed cake here. It is chocolate/yellow marble, with buttercream icing under rolled marshmallow fondant with black marshmallow fondant for the stripes and pipping gel dyed black for the scroll work. The flowers are royal icing.
