Not necessarily, but if you do keep it in the refrigerator it will be just fine, no need to be at room temperature because the oil and the shortening as well keep their consistency spreadable.

If you don’t need as much, you can make a small amount: just use equal amount of oil, shortening and flour (¼ cup or tablespoon)

I don't use my cake release on a reg. basis so I am wondering if I refrigerated it in-between uses if that would help it last longer? And I Could just bring it to room temperature when ready to use? Ingredients

1/2 cup flour all purpose

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup shortening

Instructions

Mix all the above till smooth. Will keep for 2 weeks apply with paintbrush.
