Yes you can DIGGMORE..,,just a couple of tsp. Won't affect the taste....

Like June, I keep my purple gum paste and fondant purple by adding a small amount of Baking Soda.  I still have the flowers from my Red Hat cake, about four months now, and they have not faded or changed color.


i will be adding some nx time ! : )

It doesn't take much, Gali.  I added maybe a scant 1/4 teaspoon to a ball of gum paste a little larger than a golf ball.

Thanks, Gali, for the post.  As I said, though, the dark purple and light purple gum paste I've made using a bit of baking soda have remained the same with no fading.  The have not been exposed to sun, but they are exposed to the house lights daily.  Maybe I am lucky ;o)
