I've heard about this Gail - it's all about the red you use.

HUM ! THIS IS A FIRST FOR ME ! did you try it yet ? I don't use red , I buy the royal purple and add fuchsia, to make my purples !

No I haven't had the occassion to do purple yet sadly.  But I remember doing some research when a member here had a problem with her purple!

yes , when I do it , it does fade, or looks blue in pictures. I love purple and lime colors 2gether. when my girls ,were ages 2 and 9 mo's had a room 2gether. I did there room in those colors. lol ,,, 43 + yr's ago !

Rather try using gel colors - electric purple :)

yes I have used that also

Hi Girls!  Hope this helps!  For me, purple Kool-Aid held it's color very well.  I used grape, cherry, lime, & orange, Kool-Aids to do these guys.  It would have taken all the gel colors that I had, and then some, to get these dark colors. lol  Did not have to add very many gels to them, just for different hues.  I made most of these at least a month before the event, as time permitted, & they kept their color very well.  Even the purple on Larry Boy!  And I still have 2 left from last August, a French Pea & Jr. Asparagus, pic below.  Jordan & Ethan ate the rest...

The color is holding up well, as you can see.

That's very interesting Bonnie.  We don't have Kool Aid over here - I gather it's some kind of powdered drink?  Must be cheaper than gel colours too?

YES KATY ! ITS A SUGAR POWDER !,JUST wondering if she is using the un sweetened ! ? pk's ! it come's sweetened or (un-sweetened in tiny pk's !) concentrate dry !

Morning Katy, here is a pic of some of the flavors in pks.  They are about $1 each, & will make a 2 quart pitcher of drink.  They have very vivid colors, and excellent flavors.  This is the original brand, they come under other names, but all work.  You probably have something similar over yonder.  I only use a small amt. at a time, so they are quite cost effective for me.  Best of all is the ease, and less mess involved, using them.  I grease my hands before kneading in the color, and get no stains on them.  I have gloves, but hardly ever have to wear them.  BUT, if the drink itself is spilled, it WILL stain carpet.

Hi Gail!  I do use the sugar free which just happens to be caffeine free.  Caffeine gives me PAC's, which by themselves are no big deal, I just don't like the way they feel.  I get enough of that from my RBBB. lol

cool thank you Bonnie !that's awesome !
