Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi at all

I ask you a question, you are cake decorers  from many countries in the world:

- In your country when can you say you are a professional cake decorer?

-There is a mandatory training?

- Can you bake your cakes at home?

In Italy we have not a regolamentations for cake decoring, but we can’t bake at home.

We are waiting for a regolamentataion and for us would be very useful to know this informations.

Thank you and happy baking

In the US there are no national standards for when you call call yourself a professional cake decorator.  Technically if you get money for it you are a professional, according to one of the definitions anyway.  There is no mandatory training and legality of baking from home varies from state to state.  I believe to be legal it involves a variety of things, often a separate kitchen, inspection, etc.  To be legal baking from home involves quite a few steps, if it is even possible.

Wow

Didn't know you spoke Italian Theresa

Cool!!!

I'm very rusty. I studied in Siena during my junior year of college, but when you don't speak it regularly you lose it.

Ah yes

My husband is Polish, but can't really speak fluently. He understands his Mother when she speaks.  Because he stopped speaking Polish as a teenager, it is hard to have a full conversation. I am sure if he was saturated in the language, it would all come back. We plan to go to Poland, saw he may have to "bone up"...he! he!

Grazie Teresa,

To all my frends in baking thank you and my compliments for the professionality and kindness.

Maria Cristina

Grazie

In Canada, where I live if you accept any payment for your cake, even if it is only for supplies, you are considered a professional.
