Happy Birthday Denise!

It looks so delicious!!!

My wknd was both chaotic & wonderful. The wedding was amazing & I had such a great time. But now that things have settled down I wanted to give some well deserved, undivided attention to my wonderful friends here.

Katy, such a cute, scrumptious looking cake & w/cherries on top too. I can only imagine how good it must have tasted. Goreti, love the beautiful pansies & the onlay design. Marvelous Molds has some great ones I'd like to try one of these days. Thank you all again for remembering my bd but most of all for just being "you".

Aw Denise - so nice to know we had the desired effect!  Mine was a Black Forest gateau, but instead of real cherries, I wanted to see if I could make them look realish from fondant!

Thank you, Denise!  Glad you had an amazing couple of days.

Katy, your cherries look totally real!  Love them.  Wish I could have had a piece of the cake!

Well Katy I never would have known those cherries were made from fondant. I thought they were the real deal. I've heard of & seen black forest cake & it looks like it would taste amazing but have never had the pleasure of trying it. I'm w/Sandra, wish I could have had a piece even w/all the cake I had already eaten over the wknd...lol. May I ask what "gateau" is/means?

And thank you Maria & June :-)

Thanks for the comps on the cherries - I was happy with them!  Gateau is french for 'cake' and used when it's a dessert type cake.  In this cake chocolate sponge layer filled with black cherry (I use a pie filling from a can) and whipped double cream.
