Does anyone have a real good cream cheese icing recipe that will standup to a 60 mile trip? I am not delivering it and I will not be there to make any repairs should some thing fall. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Yvonne,
I have had good luck with this recipe:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup salted butter
2 8oz packages of cream cheese
2lbs Powdered Sugar
1t Vanilla
1/4t Salt
Blend shortening, butter & cream cheese well. Add powdered sugar a cup at at time on slow, then add vanilla & salt. Kick up the speed and beat well for 7-10 minutes or until all the sugar is incorporated.
Hope that helps.
Lisa
I will try this, Thank you so very much!!

This is a GREAT CREAM CHEESE ICING!!!!!! The icing took the trip with no problem, The cake came out wonderful. The icing was awsome tasting!!! It is now one of my few favorites. I love to make cakes but I'm not to much of a cake eater. But I loved this recipe so much, I made a batch for myself (and my family LOL) Thank you so much Lisa Seiple. Oh by the way, nothing fell off the cake during the trip. Cream cheese with grip LOL.
Thanks Yvonne! I'm so glad this worked well for you. This is recipe has a nice subtle cream-cheese taste to it, not to overpowering. Thanks for the kind response, and am glad again that it worked well.
Take care,
Lisa

Do you think this icing would be good on a marble cake? I don't like the taste of butter cream so I'm trying to find something else to work with...
If you like cream cheese, cream cheese icing works with a ton of cake flavors. Excellent with chocolate!
I have made this with marble cake, chocolate, golden yellow, red velvet, carrot and even lemon cakes. It is fantastic with all!!!! I'm going to try it with spice and pumpkin next. Everyone LOVES this icing. It is requested often. It is great to work with also. I'm planning to use this recipe for some cakes I will be donating for a cake auction.

Works great on pumpkin, spice, red velvet, hummingbird, etc. Cream cheese is one of those versatile icings, at least in my book it is:)
I have to say this is the BEST cream cheese icing I've ever used.  Everyone loves it, including my husband, who has a VERY snobby palate!  I've been using it on many cakes - chocolate-espresso, red velvet, spice, pumpkin (where I add a little cinnamon)... Thank you for this awesome icing recipe.
This recipe is from Lisa Seiple, It is the best Cream Cheese Icing I have ever eaten or made. I am so thankful to her for sharing it. I am glad that you like it also. I know this icing would win taste awards. And it holds up great.
Thank you all for the kind words! It really is a great recipe, very easy and it also crusts over nicely for a smooth look. I havent made this in a while, I think it needs to be done again this weekend. :) Everyone have a great day!

How much icing will this recipe yield? enough to fill a three tier cake and also cover it do you think?

Also, how much Vanilla is 1 t?  is that a teaspoon?

I'm really looking forward to trying this receipe

Thank you for posting it.
