WASC = White Almond Sour Cream

Very popular base cake recipe that can be changed in flavor but the texture and moisture remain the same.
I would've never figured that out. THANKS, sounds even more yummy!!

Thanks, Sherry - this is awesome! I tried copying some of these from threads on CakeCentral, but it was SO tedious I soon gave up! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks a Milllll Sherry!
Thanks now I have all kinds of new reciepes...... So a WASC cake is better to use then just a regular cake mix reciepe? I didn't even realize sour cream was used in most cakes. Is this what a bakery would use? I am so not familar with it.
Gretchen, WASC is what is called a doctored cake mix...the base of the recipe is 1 or 2 boxed cake mixes...the doctored part comes from the sour cream and other additions to the cake mix. There are tons and tons of doctored cake mix recipes. Sour cream isn't really a cake recipe standard ingredient but as far as bakery using it, they could, but most unless they are a specialty bakery, use commercial cake mix usually sold in huge bags (50 to 100 lbs).

Thanks.... Does the cake taste like sour cream? I am a little scared to try it.... I just use cake mix when I bake a cake. I have never really doctored up a cake, but I want to. I am going to try a few of these reciepes. I have a friend that thinks cakes taste like sawdust, but eats cakes I make. The last one I made was tres leche so it was full of milk and no way could have been dry. Thanks again for the information.
They are great recipes! Has anyone tried the Almond Joy cake by chance?
Ooooooo, I can't wait to try these recipes.  Thanks so much for sharing!!
