Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello,

I have asked this question previously, but didn't get a reply, I am quite serious.

As an Englishman, living in France, I have no idea what a baby shower is, I would be pleased if you could explain, because to me a shower is what I have in the bathroom!

Cheers

A baby shower is a way to celebrate the pending (or recent birth) of a child by presenting gifts to the mother at a party.  In the one I went to last week, the baby was actually there because she was born prematurely.

Goreti couldn't have said it better....

So its a bit like a birthday party, before the birthday, I've heard the word shower used before, as in Bride Shower and so on and always wondered what it was. We have this sort of event when the baby is baptised and I suppose the bridal shower for us would be the hen night, where the bride and all her girl friends meet up for one last drink!

I'm assuming the term shower is being used in the context of showering gifts upon the recipient. Thank you Goreti and June for a response, I am a little wiser now, I think, but don't hold your breath.

Well, baby showers aren't generally in the mens realm...hee, hee. There's been a new trend here where I live in Canada....Jack & Jill baby showers....meaning men come with there respective partners.

Hubby is not a fan of the Jack & Jill baby showers.  He didn't go to the shower.  He decided to keep his brother (Jorge) company instead.
